Hey Word Warriors!
|
Throughout this challenge, we will use the five-step STORY Bible study method to examine our challenge scripture.
STORY is an acronym for the five steps of: Speak - speak with God in prayer, Text - read, speak and hear the Bible text, Observe - gather truths & insight from the text, Remember - identify one main truth (or takeaway) & key verse, and Your Turn - act on what you have learned.
STORY outlines and prioritizes Bible study time, beginning with first-things-first: prayer (Speak) and God's Word (Text). The Observe step makes up the bulk of the study time by summarizing the facts and truths in the passage, identifying the context, accessing multiple Bible translations, cross-references, word studies, and commentaries. The final Remember and Your Turn steps prompt you to identify one main takeaway and apply it to your everyday life.
For this challenge, each day considers a different aspect of the Observe step.
TIP: Record your challenge journey in a notebook or journal.
STEP 1 • SPEAK
Father, we humbly come before you today, surrendering our own agenda to Your's. As we meditate on Your Word we seek Your insight. Fill our minds and hearts to overflowing with Your wisdom and Your presence. We thank you, Jesus, for Your precious gift of salvation. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
STEP 2 • TEXT
I rise at midnight to thank you for your just regulations. (Psalm 119:62, NLT)
STEP 3 • OBSERVE
Today, let's consider our scripture by summarizing it and identifying the truths it states.
In your notebook or journal, answer the following.
Questions:
How would you summarize Psalm 119:62? What does the verse say, what are the facts?
What truths do you see in Psalm 119:62?
What does it teach you about God?
What does it teach you about mankind/yourself?
